What Is Estate Planning?

Because life is so uncertain, everyone needs to have an estate plan in place. The purpose of your estate plan is to ensure your wishes are honored and carried out in the event you become incapacitated or pass away. Your estate plan will appoint someone to make health care or financial related decisions for you if you are unable. Your plan will also outline your wishes for how your legacy should be carried out and your assets distributed.

Failing to plan early could mean your loved ones not receiving the care you intended, as well as much of your wealth being wasted on court and attorney fees.

How EP Navigator Works

Collect Your Thoughts

To make the process as simple as possible, please take advantage of our Pre-Appointment Guide. This short guide will help you prepare by asking a few key questions about your estate planning wishes. Once you’ve collected your thoughts, you’ll be ready to schedule your appointment with one of our Estate Plan Navigator experts. You can access the Pre-Appointment Guide by clicking here or on the tile below.

Schedule My Online Appointment

Once you have completed the pre-appointment guide you can click here or below on the Schedule My Online Appointment tile. In your appointment, you’ll be guided step by step through the process. Our Estate Plan Navigator specialist will walk you through the online attorney interview to gather the information needed to recommend the best documents for your individual circumstances and then create your custom documents. Once the attorney approves your documents they will be shipped to you with detailed instructions.

Signing Your Documents

When your documents arrive, you’ll need to properly sign and execute them. If your estate plan included a revocable living trust you will likely need to “fund” your trust. This is a simple process that retitles certain assets to the name of your trust. You still maintain full control over these assets, it just means that those assets will no longer be subject to the long and expensive process known as probate. We’ll provide you with detailed instructions and guidance to assist you through this task.
